amphibianArc has been awarded first prize in the Ningbo Yinzhou Southern CBD Portal Project Planning Design Competition. The competition was commissioned by Ningbo Yinzhou Urban Construction Investment and Development Corporation, who is responsible for successfully implementing the Ningbo Museum project designed by Wang Shu. The subject of the competition was the fourth phase of the Ningbo Yinzhou Southern CBD, the Portal Project.
The winning plan is not only a successful summary of the first three developing phases of the CBD, but a driving force for the area’s future dynamic urban life. Six international design firms from China, U.S. and France participated in the competition, including URBANUS.
amphibianArc’s “Cocoon” Installation to be featured at the 2014 SKYLINE Event in Downtown Los Angeles

amphibianArc’s partial building model, Cocoon, is one of ten featured installations in Los Angeles’ annual architecture, art and technology event, SKYLINE 2014. SKYLINE is a free, ten-day event presented by LERATA (Laboratory for Experimentation and Research in Art, Technology, and Architecture) to showcase site specific, experimental, interactive installations that embrace Los Angeles’ ever-evolving cultural landscape.

amphibianArc to Participate at DADA 2013 “Digital Infiltration” Exhibition

amphibianArc will be exhibiting a full-size partial building model at 2013 DADA Architectural Design and Installation Exhibition, starting September 27 in Beijing.
Under the theme of “Digital Infiltration”, DADA 2013 series of events are all about digital design. Organized by Digital Architecture Design Association (DADA), it contains Architectural Design and Installation Exhibition, the Digital Architectural Design Competition, and the DADA International Conference. The exhibition, as part of the series, is made up of five parts, namely architects’ works, students’ works, China’s digital architecture, digital installations, and competition finalists.
With a theme of “Silk”, the partial building model prepared by amphibianArc responds to the event’s gist “Digital Infiltration’’ and showcases unique interpretation of digital design. An illustrative film is to be played on the spot to demonstrate the whole process of design, production and installation of the model.
Calligraphy in Space Receives The American Architecture Award for 2013

amphibianArc’s Calligraphy in Space has been awarded The American Architecture Award for 2013 by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The American Architecture Awards are the highest and most prestigious building awards program that honor new and cutting-edge design in the United States.
Calligraphy in Space is one of 65 projects that were selected by a distinguished group of Greek architects and educators at the 2013 Jury for Awards held in Athens, Greece.
In September 2013, The Chicago Athenaeum, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies will present a special exhibition of all awarded buildings at their annual symposium, “The City and the World” during the 14th International Biennial of Architecture in Buenos Aires.
amphibianArc’s Competition Entry For Yichang New District Master Plan Unveiled

amphibianArc + IPPR is one of the 12 shortlisted teams to propose a new district in Yichang, China. The entry won second prize for Planning Exhibition Center and Museum, as well as honorable mention for Public Service Center.
amphibianArc envisioned the new district as an urban oasis by incorporating its unique natural enviroment of Chinese “Shan Shui (mountains and water)”.

amphibianArc’s Shen Guo Tou Plaza Renovation was recently featured in “unMade in China: Undone Architecture in P.R.C.“, an exhibition curated by Cannon Design. The exhibition invited 12 architectural firms to show their unbuilt or abandoned Chinese projects as a celebration of those almost-spectacular, missing projects from the last decade.
The exhibition was held at the ide@s Gallery in Shanghai from April 20 to June 20, 2012.
Hongxing Macalline Beijing Flagship Store Receives Commendation From The MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards 2012

The Hongxing Macalline Beijing Flagship Store was commended by the prestigious MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards in Cannes in early March 2012. The award, one of the most important in the Retail and Property industry, is testimony to amphibianArc’s outstanding design and new architectural thinking.
The MIPIM Awards are for unbuilt or incomplete projects that have responded creatively to the client’s brief as well as considering the impact on the surrounding community. The winners were announced at the Future Projects Awards dinner chaired by Paul Finch, Editorial Director of the Architectural Review.
In 2011, the Foshan Dongping New City Mass Transit Center received commendation from the MIPIM Awards in the Mixed Use category.
